The View from Above

The unidentified flying object darted across my field of view. I bounced from my desk and walked to the window. From the 23rd floor of the midtown Toronto office building, I watched as the small dark mass shot across the overcast sky, its elevation steadily rising into the horizon before making a wide arc. Suddenly, the UFO shifted into a high-speed nosedive toward the city below. Agile aerial manoeuvres made with intention. Predatorial. 

That’s when the unidentifiable became identifiable: a peregrine falcon.
