The Arab League has suspended Syria and threatened to impose sanctions on it if the Assad dictatorial regime doesn’t end its continuing brutal assault on civilians. It seems as though the pan-Arab body, if just this once, has snapped out of its delusional and obsessive trance of blaming Israel for every single minor or major injustice that has plagued the region. Although the Arab leaders’ public criticism of Syria is probably still borne out of self-interest and fear of their own fate, I think credit must be given where credit is due.
